I am a Nottingham based artist. Born in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, my love of painting started as early as I can remember. I started as a figurative painter but was always interested in the abstract elements of painting.

I did a B.A. at Camberwell School of Art in London, and more recently an M.A. at Nottingham Trent University, where I was able to further my interest in abstract painting and recently in minimal art. Years 1976 –1994 I lectured at Grimsby School of Art and my work is in many private and public collections, most notably Hammersmith Hospital London, Rileys Crisps Scunthorpe, Leicestershire Schools (years 1980 – 1990), Evershed, Wells & Hind Solicitors in Nottingham and The Nottingham Trent University, East Midlands Arts and Clarendon College of Further Education, Nottingham.

In the last few years I have gained several awards - in the Derby Open in 2000 and again in 2001 - at the Usher Gallery, Lincoln in 2000 and again in 2001, and in the Nottingham Open at the Castle Gallery, Nottingham in 2002. I was also included in the Sheffield Open in 1999 at the Mappin Gallery.

I am a past Chairman of the Lincolnshire Artists Society, based at the Usher Gallery in Lincoln and have recently been honoured by being elected a Vice President of the Society.

In May 2002 I was involved in the exhibition entitled ĎAs long as it takes’ at the Angel Row Gallery in Nottingham. This exhibition had a second showing at the Pump House Gallery in Battersea Park, London the following year.
