What it means to be an artist

An artist sees in colour, shapes and light
in every step, in every sight

An artist’s life portrayed in stages,
Still life, abstracts, landscapes through Ages 

An artist, inspired by all that’s around
From folk tales and flowers to trees in the ground 

An artist fills closets with colourful shawls,
Then takes her palette to brighten the halls

An artist, when gone, leaves to us who remain
Her art on our walls, viewed again and again

And so, even though the artist has gone
The canvas remains, the colour lives on
